Strong gardens are planned first

Before we choose a plant, we look at the bigger picture.

Light, exposure, existing conditions, mature plant size, seasonality and how you use the space all influencewhat belongs where.

From there, we build a planting plan with structure, balance and room to grow.

The goal isn't a garden that looks finished on planting day.

It's one that gets better as it grows in.

From plan to planting

We can take a project from the first conversation through design, sourcing and installation, or step in whereyou need us.

That might mean creating a new garden from the ground up, reworking an established bed that isn't quiteworking, or implementing a larger plan over several seasons.

For clients who already have a plan or want to be more hands-on, we can also provide planting and phasedimplementation support.

Designed to thrive here

Calgary asks a lot of a garden.

Temperature swings, Chinooks, exposure, soil conditions and a short growing season all influence what willsucceed.

More than 16 years of fine gardening in Calgary has taught us what performs here, how plants behave asthey mature and where seemingly small decisions can make a significant difference.

That experience informs the plants we choose, where we place them and how we build a garden for theyears ahead.

Beautiful matters. So does knowing what will grow.

Is Bloom the right fit?

We work with homeowners, businesses and property managers who value good planning and want more than a quick seasonal fix.

Bloom may be a good fit if you're:

  • creating or substantially reworking a garden

  • looking for professional direction before investing in plants

  • interested in how the garden will develop over time

  • willing to work with the realities of the site rather than against them

  • looking for a cohesive result rather than a series of disconnected additions

Projects can range from focused garden improvements to larger transformations and phased installations.

If your project needs expertise outside our scope, we'll tell you and, where possible, point you toward atrusted local partner.

Start with a conversation

The earlier we begin, the more flexibility we have for planning, plant sourcing and scheduling within Calgary's growing season.

Garden projects are scheduled according to season and availability.

Extend the garden through the seasons

Seasonal containers bring the same approach to entrances, patios and other focal areas.

Designed and refreshed as the seasons change, they're an easy way to carry colour, texture and plantingbeyond the garden itself.
