A working design studio, rooted in the garden

Bloom Culture is a Calgary-based design studio working across gardens, plants and florals.

Our work began in the garden, and that perspective still shapes everything we do. We think in seasons, work with natural materials and create spaces and pieces that feel alive, layered and connected to their surroundings.

How we work

We pay attention to what belongs where.

In the garden, that means choosing plants for Calgary’s climate, the conditions of the site and how they will grow over time. Indoors, it means bringing plants and botanical elements into spaces in ways that feel natural rather than added on. In our floral work, it means following the seasons and working with what is looking especially beautiful at the time.

The medium changes. The way we see it doesn’t.

Experience that holds up

More than 16 years of working in Calgary gardens has taught us to balance creativity with practicality.

We understand the realities of our climate, how plants establish and mature, and how a space changes from season to season. That experience informs the work we create well beyond the garden.

From Bedworx to Bloom Culture

Bloom Culture began as a small gardening company called Bedworx.

Over time, the work expanded. Gardens led to seasonal containers. Plants moved indoors. Flowers became another way to work with colour, texture and the seasons.

The name changed as the studio grew, but the garden never disappeared.

Gardening isn’t simply one of our services. It’s where Bloom Culture learned how to see.

Founder

Bloom Culture is led by founder and creative director Kari Baker.

Her background in fine gardening continues to shape the studio’s approach to planting, seasonality and natural design, along with a belief that the best spaces are not static. They grow, change and get better with time.

The team

Behind Bloom Culture is a small team whose experience spans gardening, horticulture, plants, florals and creative work.

Different disciplines come together under one roof, allowing us to approach projects as a whole rather than as disconnected pieces.

The studio

Our NW Calgary studio is where much of the work happens.

It’s a working space for floral design, planting, workshops and project preparation, and it opens to the public with a changing selection of flowers, plants and seasonal pieces.

What you find here changes with the season. That’s very much the point.
